FAQ

Carolyn Dean - Druid Rock Irish Wolfhounds

Involvement in the breed:
In 1996, I decided to get "an" Irish Wolfhound... well, "an" quickly turned to "a few" and I now share my life with four IWs (Arthur, Rose, Bear and Benjamin), one cat (Mike The Cat), and one whippet (Clara) who is the newest member of the pack. The IWs look on her as their personal pet.

Over the years, I have done lure coursing, training (although I have never shown in obedience competitions) and conformation; but my heart lies in visiting Special Needs children with Bear, Arthur and Rose. I do not consider myself a breeder, per se, but I was fortunate enough to have one litter which was the joy of my life. Mostly, I just love living with and loving my hounds.

For several years, I managed the Irish Wolfhound Foundation Gift Shop, whose proceeds go to help fund health research and rescue. I now publish a bi-annual magazine called, IW World, which is the official publication of the European Federation of Irish Wolfhound Clubs. The magazine is a labor of love for me and endeavors to share health and history information about the breed world-wide. I also partner with an IW friend in a small business selling hand crafted fleece-covered memory foam dog beds (perfect for IWs) and fleece-lined collars

I will be happy to share my hounds and any information I have that could help folks in their search.
