FAQ

Cynthia Patterson - Riversong Irish Wolfhounds

Involvement in the breed:
Since our first two Irish Wolfhounds worked their magic on us in the mid 1980's we've never been without at least two in our lives at any one time. We simply can't imagine life without them. They enrich and enhance our lives beyond measure and teach us invaluable lessons of life, courage, heart and humor.

We're active in our regional IW club, IWAGSM, in which both Dave and I are founding members, have held office, help with rescue and educational events. Our love and dedication to this breed is the nurturing force behind many worldwide friendships and club associations.

Dave has found therapy work with wolfhounds very rewarding, from participating in Ruff Reading programs in elementary schools to comforting chemotherapy patients in a cancer treatment center. A wolfhound's sensitivity makes them uniquely suited for this type of activity.

We came to the conformation ring and whelping box late in life, not until the late 1990's. After very careful consideration, we bred our first litter. From that foundation, we continue to endeavor balancing beauty and function with health, temperament and longevity. We enjoy pursuing adventures in the ring but our real joy is found in life's simple day-to-day pleasures, a hike in the field, a ride in the car, the comfort of a devoted hound always at our side.

We look forward to assisting those interested in this magnificent, soulful breed.
