FAQ

Donna & Joe Monahan - Shanachie Irish Wolfhounds

Involvement in the breed:

Located in the Green Mountains of South/ Central Vermont, we have owned and shown Irish Wolfhounds since 1995. We currently own 6 Irish wolfhounds and a border terrier. Our twenty acre homestead gives plenty of room for our hounds to romp and enjoy the country life.

Donna has shown in both obedience and conformation over the past fifteen years. Our first wolfhound, Ceara was an avid courser, earning her field championship, as well as an obedience title.

Our kennel name "Shanachie", was derived from the registered name of our second wolfhound, Rosslare's Shanachie. He was our 1st conformation show dog, along with an obedience champion and courser.

We breed occasionally and actively show. Great care goes into each breeding, as we take seriously the health and welfare of each and every one of our dogs. Our goal is to produce puppies of good health and sound temperament.

Donna is secretary of our local all breed club, The Woodstock Dog Club as well a member of our national breed club and several other regional Irish Wolfhound Clubs.

We welcome and encourage anyone thinking about owning an Irish wolfhound to come and spend some time with our hounds.
