FAQ

Frankie Stoffer, O'Faolain Irish Wolfhounds

Involvement in the breed:
I saw my first Irish Wolfhound when I was 10, and my second when I was 15. I fell in love immediately and began researching the breed. Finally, I was able to get a puppy in 1980. I liked him so much that I got a second one, a spayed rescue female, a couple of years later.

I had always had a dog in my life, but Wolfhounds were my introduction to the world of dog events. With my first one I did conformation, obedience, and therapy work. Later, I discovered lure coursing and racing. I love doing things with my hounds, and some of my best friends are people I met at dog events. My experiences with training even led me to become an obedience instructor, which I have really enjoyed.

I have been involved with rescue for many years, and have used my hounds to help educate the public about the breed and about dog behavior. We do things just for fun, too, like St. Patrick's Day parades and Celtic Fairs.
