FAQ

Laurie and Loren Morris, Brimstone Irish Wolfhounds

Involvement in the breed:
Irish Wolfhounds have been a part of our lives since 1982. I had fallen in love with the breed many years earlier, but it was not until then that the time was right to introduce one in to our family. His name was Kane and he was as wonderful as we had imagined. When he was old enough we took Kane lure coursing, which he loved. As a family we spent many a great day outdoors watching the hounds run. Soon one hound led to another, and in 1986 our first "show dog" joined the pack. He took me in another direction, and conformation became my passion.

In 1990 our first litter was born from a carefully selected sire and dam. It has been a joy and an honor to have won several IW breed specialty shows, including the 2000 IWCA National Specialty with our home bred hounds. While other Brimstone hounds have gone on to excel in obedience, lure coursing and therapy work with their owners, the majority of them have the distinction of being "most loved" pet and companion.

I am a member of several regional breed clubs, the North GA Hound Assn, and a long time member of the national breed club.

Educating myself and others about this unique and wonderful breed has become a life long endeavor. Participating in seminars, judging sweepstakes, attending public education events with the hounds, and one-on-one interaction are some of my favorite ways to learn and to teach.

We continue to enter conformation shows selectively, and breed a litter very occasionally. At present we share our home with several IWs ranging in age from 7 months to 8.5 years, along with a bossy mixed breed rescue and a doxie.
