FAQ

Pernille Monberg - Wolfhouse Irish Wolfhounds

Involvement in the breed:

I got my first two Wolfhounds in 1976. During my teens and 20ties my sister and I bred horses, this interest soon found its way into dogs as well until finally the dogs completely replaced the horses in 1993. I have bred 21 litters in the past 32 years.

My training in the behavioral sciences in combination of three decades spent with a pack of hounds has brought about a profound interest in their behavior, social organization and the human / canine relationship. As a breeder I have an interest in reproduction, genetics and health issues in general. I am currently involved in a genome project with the objective of locating the genes responsible for the heart diseases: Atrial fibrillations and Dilated Cardiomyopathy in the Irish Wolfhound.

Last but not least almost all of my dogs are shown at least until they obtain their national championship title, while some individuals who really seem to enjoy the showing, are campaigned towards their Nordic and international titles.
