FAQ

Seija Keranen - Wild Frontier Irish Wolfhounds

Involvement in the breed:
Irish Wolfhounds have been part of my life since I got my first Irish Wolfhound puppy in 1982.
At that time only few litters were born each year in Finland and IWs were not often shown in the dog shows either. So it was fascinating to go to watch IW Specialties & Sighthound Group Shows, visit some breeders and take part to Finnish IW Club´s meetings to learn more about this fascinating breed.

My first IW was a very intelligent and playful wheaten girl from old Finnish lines. When she was older, another lovely female puppy moved to live with us from Sweden... Since then I have always shared my home and daily life with these wonderful dogs. At present we have 5 Wolfhounds ranging in age from 7 months up to 9 years old living with us. That amount is just suitable and hounds can then enjoy the company of each other too.

I like to show my hounds. During the years I have bred few nice litters from carefully selected parents. Have trained some lure coursing and obedience - basic things - with my dogs too.
The nice long walks in the forest and fields with my Wolfhounds are best anyway. It´s wonderful to watch when the dogs are happily running and playing together, enjoying their life.

I´m a member in the Finnish IW Club, the Finnish Kennel Club and also in the Border Terrier & Karelian Beardog Clubs in Finland. I am an authorized ID marker (tattoo) of dogs in Finland.

My another dear hobby is making drawings & paintings of IWs & other dogs and animals. Some of drawings have been published in different dog magazines and other publications all over the World.
